A cautery device is used during this procedure which makes it quick and safe. The high temperature in the cautery pen burns away the cells of the skin tag, which will later slough off from the surface. Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure used induce collagen and elastin production in the skin. For the procedure, the skin is first cleaned and topical numbing agent is applied. It takes approximately 20 minutes optimum numbing of the skin. Approximately 8 mls of blood is taken. The blood is spun in a centrifuge in order to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is used during the microneedling process. During the procedure an automated pen with multiple tiny needles attached is passed over the skin at depths varying from 0.5cm-1.5cm.
