The muscles in the area of the trigger points are warmed through massage techniques and then acute pressure is applied with elbows or reinforced thumbs until the knot is released. No Bruising will ever occur with this massage style if the therapist is properly trained.  

Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Therapy Massage

Massage therapy has been linked to short-term decrease in physical aches and pains and improved mood. Adding an essential oil for an aromatherapy massage can potentially enhance the effects.
