In the event of incorrect, uneven or excessive application of hyaluronic acid filler, hyaluronidase is used to dissolve the dermal filler (hyaluronidase is simply an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid). The hyaluronidase is injected into the site of the dermal filler to be dissolved, and begins working immediately. The filler is dissolved and metabolised indefinitely.
