Piercing follow up or troubleshooting

Jewelry Change or Removal

Tongue: A barbell is placed through the center of the tongue. Some people opt for a double, one barbell in front of the other. 
Tongue Web: A barbell through the frenulum under the tongue. This is the part that attaches the tongue to the lower gum area. It is not visible unless it is being shown off.
Smiley: A hoop passing through the webbing connecting the upper lip to the gum, with the diameter size making it show only when smiling. This can be done on the lower webbing too, often called a frowny.
Snake eyes: A barbell through the tip of the tongue horizontally, with a ball on each side. This piercing passes through the tongue muscles while the traditional tongue is not, making this piercing more painful during and after the procedure. The jewelry also touches the teeth more often, making irreversible tooth damage more likely.
Dimples: Barbells or labrets passing through the cheeks where a dimple would be.

Mouth

Helix: often simply called a cartilage piercing. It is a stud or hoop placed along the fold at the edge of the ear. Many people choose to have multiple helix piercings at once (most commonly two or three)
Forward Helix: a stud or hoop on the fold of cartilage near the face. While many people have just one, double and triple forward helixes are common as well.
Industrial: A long barbell is pierced, at the same time, through the sides of the cartilage in the ear. Some people’s anatomy cannot accommodate a standard industrial, but I can custom bend the barbell to fit properly, and looks slightly different from the standard piercing.
Rook: barbell or hoop placed in the smaller fold of cartilage in the upper part of the ear. Not all people have the anatomy for this piercing, it could be placed too deep or too shallow, which would likely lead to rejection.
Helix Flat: A stud on the larger, flat part of the upper ear cartilage away from the fold. Most people can fit up to 3 on an ear.

Upper Ear Piercings

Earlobe: a hoop or stud through the low fleshy part of the ear, the most common for both women and men. 
Stacked Earlobe: the same as earlobe piercings, except the piercing is stacked vertically above the regular earlobe piercing, usually placed between the first and second lobe piercings, creating a triangle pattern.
Conch: located in the thick, bowl-shaped part of the ear.
Tragus: placed on the cartilage of the
external opening of the ear. Some people’s anatomy can
accommodate two tragus piercings on the same ear, but
most cannot.
Daith: placed in the thick fold of the cartilage
in the inner ear in line with the tragus. Headache accupuncture location.
Snug:  exact placement depends on the shape of the ear, through the anti-helix fold.

Bottom Half of Ear

Nostril: A clicker hoop or nostril screw stud through the side of the nostril, placed in the curved crease line. 
Septum: A piercing that is placed in the tissue beneath the central cartilage of the nose, where the nostrils are divided. This is often referred to as “the sweet spot.”
High Nostril: Often placed above traditional nostril piercings, although they can be worn on their own, high nostril piercings are placed a few centimeters above the curve of nostril crease and through the cartilage of the nose.
Bridge: A bridge piercing, which is also sometimes called an “Erl”, is a horizontal bar placed in the skin across the bridge of the nose.
Nasalang: a barbell through both sides of the nose passing through the septum also.

Piercings on the Nose

A piercing located right on, or around, the lip area.

Snake bites: Two piercings just under the bottom lip, one is on the right side and one is on the left side.

Spider Bites: Two piercings just under the bottom lip, both on the same side next to each other.

Angel Bites: Two piercings just above the top lip, one is on the right side and one is on the left side.

Dahlia Bites: Two piercings at the corners of the lip, one is on the right side and one is on the left side.

Medusa: An upper lip piercing, centered in the middle of the lip, through the philtrum and directly under the septum of the nose.

Monroe: An off-center lip piercing, placed above the upper lip.

Vertical Labret: A curved barbell that enters inside the center of the actual lower lip and exits just below the lipline.

A piercing which goes straight through the nipple,
either horizontally or vertically with a hoop or barbell.

Nipple

A piercing with a barbell or hoop that is located in the navel. It may be done on the top, bottom, or sides if there is a natural fold there. Without a distinct fold, they are prone to reject or migrate. Can be done in some
combination of the above styles, with multiple piercings.

Navel

A single-point piercing in which a microdermal anchor
is placed under the skin. The top is then screwed in to the part of the anchor that is visible, and almost flush with the skin. They can be placed almost anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms, and back. Some spots are prone to rejection, especially if they are injured.

Dermal

A hoop or barbell above either eye, usually crossing the outer third of the eyebrow at 90 degrees. Some people get double or triple eyebrow piercings, which are placed next to each other in a row. Horizontal eyebrow piercing, where the jewelry is the same direction as the eyebrow instead of crossing it, is a considered a surface piercing and almost always rejects.
