I had the most amazing experience with Candyce at Jamal Amal Hair Salon! In which from the moment I walked in, she made me feel so welcomed and at ease. She truly understands hair and took the time to listen to what I wanted, offering expert advice along the way. The end result was beyond my expectations. In all honesty my hair has never looked or felt better! Whiles on the other hand her attention to detail, skill, and warm coupled with her personality made the entire appointment such a joy. Genuinely the best haircut I’ve gotten in NYC. I’ve gone to quite a few different salons dedicated to curly hair, including traveling all the way to Jersey to get a proper cut. And in all instances I’ve left underwhelmed, with a cut that was not what I had asked for. This experience was the exact opposite! She took the time to take into account the different curl patterns I have, my daily styling routine, what I wanted and what was achievable. I left the appointment looking and feeling amazing! For anyone out there with 3c hair who has struggled to find a proper cut, definitely visit Chi!

They did a great job with my hair color. The salon is decorated nicely and the staff was welcoming. It was confusing which side to go in, as one side is presented as a separate barber shop business, but that door was open and I was told to wait there. They told me the service my Groupon was for wouldn't be right for my hair, and I should do a different service, but wouldn't get the discount and would have to pay an additional fee. I went with that option as it made the most sense to me. The staff hardly spoke to me at all during the service and may not speak much English, but they were friendl

Amazing first time experience here! I was lucky enough to have Inesa who is both talented and engaging with all her customers. She did amazing job picking out the best color that would blend with my natural hair color and it turned out better than expected! I highly recommend this salon if you are looking for great customer service with beautiful “happy” results! :)

I recently visited Jamal Amal Salon to get my hair braided, and I had such a great experience! Robert is simply amazing!! Fabulous cut. First time in 25 years I didn’t even have to tell him what to or not to do, like cut my hair with a razor, he is definitely an expert in his field! I had Giuseppe as my stylist, whom I highly recommend. He took the time to understand my needs and offered helpful suggestions that suited me. I can tell that he really cares about his craft by how meticulous and detail oriented he was when during my haircut. He was very professional, and I highly recommend him and this salon.

I have been going to NYC salons for over 25 years and this is the best salon I have gone to. John is a fabulous stylist and colorist. His team of Sona, Grace, Ella and John are wonderful and provide great client service. And Marina is one of the best manicurists I have ever had. He was gentle and patient with her and we definitely plan on continuing to see him in the future. Maria gave me a curly cut which I absolutely love.
