Manage blocked time types
In this guide, you’ll learn how to create and manage the default blocked time types you can add to the calendar, such as breaks, personal time, or admin tasks.
How blocked time types work
Blocked time types are preset reasons you can select when adding blocked time to your calendar, so it’s clear why a team member is unavailable. You can manage blocked time directly in your calendar by adding or updating entries as needed.
Create a new blocked time type

From the main menu on the left of your screen, go to Settings.

Select the Settings tab from the top and click on Scheduling.

In the left menu panel, select Blocked time types to access the blocked time type options for your workspace.

Click on the Add button in the top right to create a new blocked time type.

On the new blocked time page, fill in the following details:
- Type: Add a title and emoji that reflect the blocked time reason. For example, "Training" or "Coffee break".
- Duration: Set how long the blocked time should last when scheduled.
- Compensation: Choose whether team members are Paid or Unpaid for this type of blocked time.

Click the Add button in the top right to save the new blocked time type.
Once added, the new blocked time type will be ready to use when scheduling a blocked time to your calendar.
Edit or delete blocked time types

From the main menu on the left of your screen, go to Settings.

Select the Settings tab from the top and click on Scheduling.

In the left menu panel, select Blocked time types to access the blocked time type options for your workspace.

Next to a blocked time type, click on Actions and choose one of the following options from the panel:
- Edit: Update the details of the blocked time, including the Type, Duration, and Compensation.
- Delete: Permanently removes the blocked time type. A confirmation pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the deletion.
FAQs
Yes, you can categorize blocked time as either Paid or Unpaid to track your team's hours accurately. You can then review this in your Working hours activity report.
Deleting a blocked time type will not remove previously scheduled blocked times from your calendar, but you will no longer be able to assign new blocked times using that type.
